The typical drink of Gualaceo is Rosero. Jaime Roldós avenue, which leads to the center of the city, is a showcase for bakeries that offer this traditional drink made from corn flour with tropical fruits such as babaco, pineapple, orange, naranjilla, lemon … vanilla essences, cinnamon, sugar, water of smells and syrup.
Patricia Jara is part of the fourth generation of the family that makes this exquisite drink, desired by its own and visitors.
Your local La Delicia is also on the same avenue. As in the rest of bakeries, Jara recommends serving them with arepas, quesadillas, keys, yolk loaves, sponge cake, donuts … which are also part of the Gualaceo pastry tradition. A small glass of rosero costs USD 0.50.
