The most important celebration in Gualaceo is the one that takes place in commemoration of its cantonization, every 25th of June. Its inhabitants and visitors participate jubilantly in the agenda of cultural, social and sporting events offered by the Committee of Festivities of the Municipality, in coordination with other entities and neighborhoods.
The different spaces and scenarios such as parks, markets, the banks of the Santa Bárbara … are filled with life with the multitudinous presence of visitors. The fairs, the election of the queen of the canton, the exhibitions, the rally competitions, among other activities, attract the visit of tourists.
The June 25 civic parade enhances citizenship with student participation. At noon the Solemn Session takes place and then, it is the Night of Fantasy. For the occasion the Santa Bárbara River illuminates and the queen, with her cut, crosses the affluent on a colorful boat.
They are accompanied by a display of pyrotechnic lights and the sounds of the town band.
