The second most prosperous canton of Azuay welcomes you. It occupies an area of 346.5 km2 where 42,758 inhabitants live. The weather is warm most of the time, ideal for any tourist activity. Gualaceo is located 36 km. (40 minutes) east of Cuenca. It is bathed by the Santa Bárbara, San Francisco and Guaymincay rivers. Its orography is irregular. Route Guayaquil-Cuenca: At the Simón Bolívar Terrestrial Terminal, use buses from the companies of Oriental Tourism, Súper Semería, San Luís, Súper Taxis Cuenca that operate in alliance. There are shifts every 30 minutes, the trip is 4 hours and the ticket is USD 8.
Route Cuenca-Gualaceo: You can use buses from the cooperatives Santiago de Gualaceo, Express Sígsig and Cenepa. The trip lasts 40 minutes and the ticket USD 0.80.
You can also travel by plane from Quito or Guayaquil to Cuenca. From there take an intercantonal bus or a taxi race for USD 15.
