With a mixture between the indigenous roots and that of the Spanish conquerors, the rural town of Gualaceo lives with a profound Catholic faith the feast of the Lord of Miracles. This celebration is linked to the agricultural cycle of planting and harvesting, but now the greatest number of devotees are the emigrants.
The central celebration is September 24 in the San Juan parish. The priostes organize and finance the celebration, while the devotees collaborate in the preparations. Many migrants also make financial contributions, as a way to thank for the favors received.
The previous days there are religious and cultural acts such as traditional dances and skirmishes, which are riders who walk through the town square. The town bands and the roar of rockets brighten the atmosphere.
On the 24th there is a peculiar eucharist that culminates with the pilgrimage of the religious image and pyrotechnics.
