The artisan fabrics gain space in the national fashion and the artisans of Gualaceo continue to diversify the garments and creating new designs to remain as leaders. Since 1992, ninety women of this canton are grouped in the Association of Artisanal Production Tejemujeres. They have a workshop-warehouse in the streets Tres de Noviembre 2-11 and Cañaverales.
There or in their houses they make scarves, sweaters, shawls, hats, gloves, ponchos … spinning by hand with the help of crochet or toothpicks. They use sheep wool, alpaca wool or cotton, as their ancestors did.
The combination of colors and designs is wide, satisfying any demand. There are garments from USD 1 to USD 50, depending on size and finishes.
