The Collay forest was created to protect the landscape, the enormous water wealth and biodiversity. It is located 21 km from the center of Gualaceo, on the road to Limón. It has 15,000 inhabitants and it extends to the cantons of Paute, Guachapala, El Pan and Sevilla de Oro.
Its topography is irregular with defined trails and muddy soils that lead us towards the Cari Maylas and Huarmi Maylas lagoons of glacial origin. In this forest the water sources that supply water to the city are born.
The sound of the streams, the icy wind, the song of the birds and the green landscape fall in love. It is possible to fish and camp. You will relax admiring the dense vegetation, the radiant sky and the sharp mountains.
It is an excellent option to walk in the family or with friends, keeping in mind the obligation to take care of the forest, not destroy the vegetation or throw garbage.
