The architectural wealth of the Jardín del Azuay encourages numerous tours through its different streets. The visitor will know several faces of this city declared Cultural Heritage of Ecuador in 2002. Its primitive core forms the central square with narrow cobbled streets, with intimate corners and silent craft workshops.
In the heart of the city, colonial adobe houses stand, with second floors on superb wooden pillars, balconies, wide corridors and tiles. The Church also stands out for its richly carved doors that denote beauty.
The corner house on Gran Colombia and Tres de Noviembre streets, welcomed the liberator Simón Bolívar. There are 208 buildings of heritage value that rise within 56 blocks. The green spaces of the beds and parks embellish the environment.
